Guidelines for Authors

Submission Format

Contributions to the journal may include research papers, case studies, historical reviews, literature searches, practice strategies, and educational commentaries.

Manuscripts should be submitted via e-mail to hazelwd@louisiana.edu .

A 200 word abstract summarizing the manuscript is required. Manuscripts should be no longer than 3000 words. Complete contact information on all authors must be included on a cover sheet. Contact information includes the name, credentials, organization, position, address, phone number and e-mail address. The manuscript should not contain information that would identify the authors. Font style Arial with a point size of 10 points is preferred.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically as a Microsoft Word document. Figures and images should be submitted separately as pdf files. If the figure that you are using has been previously published, you must acknowledge the original source and submit written permission from the copyright holder to reproduce or adapt the material.

Footnotes and references should be typed at the end of the article and indicated with corresponding numbers in the appropriate places in the text.

The Chicago Manual of Style should be the format used for footnotes and references.

Acceptance of Manuscripts

Simultaneous submissions are not accepted. Manuscripts submitted should not have been published in print or online and should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Authors of accepted manuscripts will sign a copyright transfer agreement which must be returned prior to manuscript publication. The work becomes the property of the LHIMA and may not be published without permission. Opinions and views presented by the author(s) are not to be considered the opinions and views of LHIMA.

Authors are required to disclose any commercial or other associations that pose a conflict of interest. Financial support through a grant or other means should be acknowledged as well as any appreciation to individuals with the manuscript.

The authors will be asked to sign a statement maintaining that the work is theirs and contains no un-cited data from any other published or unpublished source.
