District Spotlight

Lexi Hebert, RHIA, is a 2017 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She graduated with a major in Health Information Management and a minor in Health Informatics. Before graduation, she sat for the state exam and earned her RHIA credentials.

She is currently the Revenue Recovery Supervisor at SCP Health. She has been employed with SCP Health since 2017. Upon graduating, she began working as a Revenue Auditor. While as a Revenue Auditor, she audited coding for Hospital Medicine and Emergency Medicine cases for government appeals.

A year into being a Revenue Auditor she was moved up to a position as a Reimbursement Auditor. As a Reimbursement Auditor, she audited commercial contracted claims and fee schedules. Her main objective was to ensure that insurance payers were abiding by contracts.

Eight months after becoming a Reimbursement Auditor she was promoted to Revenue Recovery Supervisor. As the Revenue Recovery Supervisor, she along with her teamwork to enhance reimbursement for SCP’s emergency medicine visits in areas where they are not contracted with the payer. She and her team are currently using new arbitration strategies in different states to increase revenue.

Throughout her positions at SCP, she has been able to obtain knowledge on many different aspects of healthcare.

Every year at SCP she sits with students for their internship rotation from UL. She enjoys being able to offer advice and encouragement during their internship. It’s important to support the new graduates as they are about to enter the HIM world. Our profession changes often so it is imperative that every student feels supported upon entering the professional world.

After graduation, she remained involved in LHIMA. She served as the Support of Schools and Scholarship Project Chair and worked with the Social Networking team. She assisted the convention Director with the annual meeting in Lafayette, LA in 2018. She currently serves as the Recognition and Awards project chair since 2020.
