This workshop is designed to review the basics of ICD-10-PCS coding in the Medical/Surgical, Medical/Surgical Related and Ancillary Services sections. Participants will discuss new technology codes and recent Coding Clinic determinations. Operative reports from all body systems will be coded.
Coders at all expertise levels may attend but some coding experience is recommended. Attendees should bring their ICD-10-CM and PCS Official Code Sets and/or encoder and reference sources on their laptops. Power outlets are not guaranteed and devices should be charged.

Anita C. Hazelwood, EdD, RHIA, FAHIMA
Professor in the Health Information Management Department

Anita C. Hazelwood, MLS, RHIA, FAHIMA, is a Professor in the Health Information Management program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and has been a credentialed Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) for over 38 years.
Anita has actively consulted in hospitals, nursing homes, physician’s offices, clinics, facilities for the mentally retarded and in other educational institutions. She has conducted numerous ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM and CPT coding workshop throughout the state for hospitals and physicians’ offices and has written numerous articles and co-authored chapters in several HIM textbooks. Anita has co-authored several coding books including “ICD-10-CM Preview” for which she won AHIMA’s Legacy Award in 2003.
On a professional level, Anita has been a member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) for 37 years and has served on various committees and boards. Anita is a member of the Louisiana Health Information Management Association (LHIMA) and was selected as its 1997 Distinguished Member. She has served throughout the years as President, President-elect, Treasurer, Strategy manager and Board Member and has directed numerous committees and projects.
Robert (Bob) Garrie, MPA, RHIA

Robert Garrie, MPA, RHIA is an Instructor in the Health Services Administration Program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and has been credentialed as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) for over 35 years . In 2011, he became an Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS trainer by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Bob has a wide range of health information management experience ranging from acute care and specialty facilities to consulting. Prior to coming to UL-Lafayette, he was at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he taught in the undergraduate HIM and Health Care Management Programs as well as the graduate program in Health Informatics.
Bob is very active at both the state and national levels serving on numerous Committees and Task Forces. In 2009, he was President of the Alabama Association of Health Information Management and in 2013, he received their Distinguished Member Award.
